A Year in Review: 2011 Building Business Goal Accomplishments
• Build membership
o Garnered 23 new members.
o Strong retention effort.
o Promotion campaigns of member benefits to non-members.
o Hosting “Make the Most of Your Membership” Seminar.
• Continue to support the ELP
o Graduated third (and largest) class of 21 students.
o Fourth class of 20 participants began in September.
• Strengthen contractor involvement in committees
o Record 1,250 requests to serve on IRTBA committees and cooperatives.
• Engage members - encourage more board members to attend convention
o Largest Board participation at Convention ever.
• Promote alternative financing for transportation programs
o Presented at Kirk sponsored 3P Conference.
o 3P educational track at convention.
o Participated in IDOT 3P Meeting.
• Team up with other associations
o Working with ACEC on I-LAST promotion and website.
o Attended Welcome Reception for AGC Executive Director Matt Davidson.
o Regular communications with DBE associations – SB51, Sub Pre-Qualification, Disparity Study.
o LRRA, IAAAP, ACEC and agencies work on CCDD issues.
o Met with various councils of government and transportation research centers.
o Worked with Chamber and others on Workers Compensation Reform.
o Chair of the Federal Affairs Committee of TFIC.
o Leadership attended TFIC Annual Meeting.
o Met with new HACIA leadership in October.
• Education for membership: Continue opportunities through technology and meetings
o Revamped the Road Builder University webinar series to include sponsorships.
o Several active committees – recent co-ops launch.
o Educational links through Friday Facts, website, social media, IRTBA Insider.
o Convention education tracks included speakers from IDOT and IEPA.
o Intense education and training for aspiring leaders through ELP program.
o Hosted nine agencies at the “State of the Industry” General Membership Meeting.
