A Year in Review: 2012 Diversity Goal Accomplishments

• IRTBA’s Board of Directors appointed the second female to serve as Chairman of the Board
• Met with legislators and agency heads to reduce negative consequences associated with SB51 and SB351
• Met with Gov. Pat Quinn, Secretary Ann Schneider, Executive Director Kristi Lafleur, CDOT Commissioner Gabe Klein, and
• METRA Executive Director Alex Clifford to discuss enhancing workforce diversity
• Provided industry insight into effective unbundling approaches for the Illinois Tollway, including a written position paper
• Continued to promote diversity through Road Builder University scholarship program
• PLA Task Force led by IRTBA members to advise IDOT on collective bargaining and labor concerns
• Highlighted DBE firms and featured their projects in the Friday Facts “DBE Member Snapshot”
• Wrote letter to METRA Executive Director Alex Clifford urging award of contract that met DBE goal
• Forty (40) percent of the Emerging Leadership Class is employed by DBE member firms
• Provided comments on IDOT’s proposed five-year DBE goal
• Maintained a membership of 20 percent DBE firms
