Welcome to the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association (IRTBA) website!  On behalf of the 400 member firms, we hope you find our site helpful in providing background on our association as well as answering any questions you have on transportation issues in Illinois.  Formed in 1938 to promote the transportation needs of the state, the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association is now the largest statewide organization of companies designing, building and maintaining the state highway and transit systems.

As we embark upon a new decade, the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association envisions a future in which the transportation industry promotes, plans and delivers a fast, safe and efficient transportation system and strives to protect, improve and promote the transportation design and construction industry in Illinois.  Over the next few years, IRTBA will focus on working toward accomplishing specific goals set forth in a Strategic Plan approved by the Board of Directors in December 2009.  Five specific areas are highlighted:

1. IRTBA will be the leader in proactively advocating for the transportation industry in Illinois.

2. IRTBA will be its members’ indispensable resource for training, education, business services and positive experiences.

3. IRTBA will be the recognized authoritative public voice and credible information source for the transportation design and construction industry in Illinois.

4. IRTBA will be a proactive force for promoting diversity within the industry.

5. IRTBA will be a leader in promoting sustainable, sensible and innovative environmental objectives and practices.
