LOMBARD - Governor Pat Quinn addressed the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association this evening at their General Membership Meeting. Governor Quinn highlighted his administration's accomplishments in the field of transportation. Specifically, he noted the $32 billion capital plan and planned improvements to the Tollway system. Over 325 tranportation professionals were in attendance, among them Illinois Department of Transportation Acting Secretary Ann Schneider, Federal Highway Adminstration Director of Highways Christine Reed and Illinois Tollway Executive Director Kristi Lafleur.

"Historic investment in our roads and bridges is creating thousands of jobs and enhancing the quality of life for people throughout Illinois," Governor Quinn said. "State-of-the-art transportation systems are key to ensuring that Illinois remains at the forefront of the global economy."

IRTBA Chairman Woodie Griffin noted that the Governor's address illustrated the importance the road and transportation building industry has in improving Illinois' economy and quality of life. "Clearly the Governor recognizes what we in the industry have long known. Our economy depends on a sound transportation system. We are grateful that the Governor has shown his support," Griffin said.
