Transportation in Kendall County
Kendall County has recently been identified as the second fastest growing county in the nation, and the fastest growing county in Illinois. The county currently has about 125 centerline miles (265 lane miles) of pavement and 28 bridges on the County Highway System. The Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission (NIPC) has forecasted that the 2030 population for Kendall County will grow dramatically to 180,000; an approximate 230% increase from the 2000 census. This will add nearly five million vehicle-miles per day to the existing system. The county is hoping to accommodate those travelers. The next twenty-five years will tell the difference.
