Road Builder Charities

Road Builder Charities, Inc. was created in July 2009 to provide educational funding and training programs for Illinois students. RBC supports member charities, offers scholarships to college students in transportation-related fields, and scholarships to children of fallen workers.

RBC has donated to the following member-supported organizations thus far in 2017: Alzheimer's Association, David Schwarz Fallen Worker Memorial Fund, Schober Children's Memorial Education Fund, U.S. Navy SEAL Family Foundation, and the National Tay-Sachs & Allied Diseases Association (NTSAD). RBC has also donated to the following member-supported charities in previous years: ACE Technical High School, Alpine Children's Charity, Area Equipment Inc.'s Scholarships for Children of Employees with Lou Gehrig’s Disease, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Boys Town of Chicago, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Greater Illinois Chapter, Engineers without Borders, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Make A Wish Foundation, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Ryan Nichols Fallen Worker Memorial Fund, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, West Suburban Special Recreation Association, SOS Children's Villages, and the ARTBA Transportation Development Foundation.

Transportation Academic Scholarships

Road Builder Charities has also provided academic scholarships for the 2017-18 school year to students studying Construction Management or Engineering at Bradley University (two scholarships), College of DuPage, Joliet Junior College (two scholarships), McHenry County College, Northern Illinois University, University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Southern Illinois University. Scholarship money is distributed to the colleges and universities, who then go on to select candidates. 


Major fundraising events include a Charity Auction in April, the 5K Fun Run/Walk at Convention, and the Annual Golf Outing contest proceeds. Road Builder Charities is a 501(C)3, so all donations are tax-deductable. Please remember that with our new online donations, you can contribute any amount, at any time. Worker Memorial Scholarship

IRTBA also offers a $3,000 'Worker Memorial Scholarship' to a college student whose parent or legal guardian was injured or killed on a jobsite. Eligible parties must be current, full-time college students.
