Committees

Over the last few years, the Illinois Road & Transportation Builders Association’s Board of Directors has achieved its goal to increase member involvement on IRTBA committees. Active interest by the membership to participate on association committees has increased two-fold. As a committee-driven organization with a membership that remains rich in talent, we continue to remain the voice of the transportation design and construction industry in Illinois. With almost 50 committees and subcommittees to choose from, members may have the opportunity to meet with agency heads and fellow members to give input on important policy decisions, agency specifications, develop ‘best practices’, network, and more, to aid industry and ultimately their own businesses.

While we value your involvement, it comes with the responsibility to be present as the committees move forward with their missions and agendas. Merely signing up, not attending, or not actively participating in the discussion does neither your company nor the industry any good. By serving on some of these committees, you and your staff will be able to maximize your membership in the Association and your relationships with state and local agencies. We look forward to your input into these many areas and know that collectively we can accomplish great things for the transportation industry.

Internal Committees

Internal committees are important to achieving the Association's strategic goals through the active involvement of everyone. These committees are the "idea factory" for the organization's educational programs, networking events, and the foundation to creating business building opportunities. These committees include Budget & Finance, Executive, Government Affairs, Past Chairs' Advisory Council, Public Information, Membership, Meetings, Convention, and Golf Outing committees.

Agency Cooperatives

The Association’s involvement with other transportation agencies is geared at improving the environment and efficiency in which our members operate. Agency Cooperative Committees are directed to identify, discuss, and resolve matters that arise from state and local agencies and aid in building a mutually-beneficial relationship with them.

Industry Technical & Research Groups

Industry Technical Research groups are comprised of various policy-driven committees as well as technical committees that provide specialized expertise to provide interpretation, recommendations, and knowledge exchange on the industry’s technical matters to individual stakeholders, state and local agencies, Association staff, or to the membership as a whole. These industry experts make up the following committees: Construction & Work Zone Safety, the Design, Construction Research Committee (DCR) and Subcommittees, Equal Opportunity, IDOT and Tollway Policy Committees, Labor Relations, and the Training & Education.
