The Association's prime objective is to advance and promote the transportation industry throughout the state of Illinois. Our success is shared equally by all contractors, designers, and industry associates - regardless of their specialty.
Advocating for an Entire Industry
The IRTBA provides a single voice for the transportation construction industry to influence the legislative and executive branches of government. We lobby both Washington and Springfield for the transportation design and construction industry to aid and protect the construction industry from ill-advised laws and costly regulations. This lobbying effort allows for the transportation industry to speak with a single voice to ensure that elected officials do not neglect to fund the capital and maintenance projects that are necessary to keep our economy moving.
Our advocacy efforts continue down to the local agency level through our cooperative committees with IDOT Springfield, IDOT District 1, Illinois Tollway, City of Chicago, Metra, Chicago Transit Authority, Chicago Department of Aviation, and Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties. Our Design and Construction Research Committee is on the cutting edge of developing programs to facilitate communication and the transfer of information between member companies and government.

An important aspect of our membership is the focus on relationship-building opportunities.
